What we do
The policy of Haras de la Rose is one of total honesty at all times. If you buy a foal from us, the price is the same regardless of where you come from, and you will have access to an independent vetting process. No foal leaves here with an injury or illness. If you are buying abroad, we will arrange all shipping, insurance and documentation on your behalf.
On the mares pages you will find all the details of their ancestors that are available, as well as photos and videos ( if available ) of any foals they have had with us. You will notice that we concentrate on the motherline. We believe it to be the most important part of our breeding program, and thus we chose stallions not to improve our mares, but to add to their qualities. We will rarely use a stallion that does not come from a great motherline. You will also notice that we almost totally cross breed between the various stud books. We have no allegiance to any one registry, as that would influence our choice of stallions.
At Haras de la Rose, we have our own insemination centre approved by the Haras Nationaux. We are fortunate to have the services of Ellen Schmidt, Ph.D for our fresh inseminations. Marc Spalart from Equitechnic and Geert Baertsoens of Haras de la Pomme perform our frozen inseminations and embryo transfers. Stephan Bréhin, three times world champion farrier (Calgary and Stoneleig), takes care of the feet.
